entertaining. I decided to compile some outrageous pictures of dogs. What dog breed could be more suitable to show than the hound dog breeds. There is an orangutang and hound dog that are very close. Here is their story. There passion as best friends is touching and an inspiring love story of true friendship.

In the pantheon of animal odd couples, these two belong up there with Kermit and Miss Piggy. Suryia the orangutan and Roscoe the Bluetick Coonhound met in a sanctuary for endangered animals two years ago, in South Carolina, according to the U.K.’s Daily Mail. Roscoe was an underfed stray, but Suryia quickly took him under his wing. Dr. Bhagavan Antle, founder of The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species (TIGERS) in Myrtle Beach, told the Daily Mail that Roscoe followed him and Suryia through the park’s gate one day. “As soon as he saw Roscoe, Suryia ran over to him and they started playing,” Antle said “It was unusual because dogs are usually scared of primates; but they took to each other straight away.”

After a few unsuccessful phone calls to find an owner, Antle said they decided to let Roscoe stay. Now the the pair have a ball frolicking around the park. “They will spend a few hours each day together rolling around, swimming,” Antle said. “Suryia will take Roscoe for walks around the enclosure and even feeds him some of his monkey biscuits.” The pair may even appear soon on Oprah Winfrey’s show, the Daily Mail reported.

Surya the Orangutan may not be familiar to many of you as the ape companion of Dr. Bhagavan “Doc” Antle, founder and director of The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species. You may remember him, though, from his segment on the National Geographic Channel and subsequent YouTube video sensation in which he met and formed a fast (and somewhat surprising!) friendship with Rosco, the stray hound dog. Posted in September of 2009, the video is enjoying new life as it makes the viral rounds once again. As of this posting, it’s up to just shy of one million views! It’s no surprise why. Animal antics are delightful to watch, and the more human the behavior, the funnier and more endearing an audience is likely find it. But there’s something particularly heart-warming about the tale of Surya and Rosco. A dog without a pack meets a young, playful orangutan. Without a moment’s hesitation they are rolling around together, wrestling and playing. Surya even provides food from her own rations!

What has the bond between Surya and Rosco taught you? Their bond has taught me that LOVE will take you in and make you it’s own. You will stay where true love abides. It makes me sad to imagine the day one will lose the other. Many thanks to the humans that allow these two to live their lives with each other. There are other stories of unlikely animal best friends. I will add more later.

we have 7 8week old puppy's we think are full blooded american pittbulls but now are thinking that our cane corso got a hold of the mother pittbull and want to know what to expect. all the puppy's are wrinkly and all the pittbull puppy's we have seen from other litters were not wrinkly and smaller than our puppies. We are afraid that they may be a cane corso pittbull mix. So if any one can show us pictures of this type of mix it would be very appreciated

Obviously some people above have some serious issues and just like leaving ignorant comments with out more information. Accidents happen, and by no means do mix breeds spread genetic disorders. it is commonly known that pure bred dogs are usually the one with health issues and genetic disorders because basically they are inbred to a point. Read about genetics, technically mixed breeds are typically more healthy and have less disorders than pure bred dogs. the more you mix the genetics the more recessive and unwanted genes are pushed out. Of course, if you're looking to breed and sell your dogs you need to make sure there's no mixing for that purpose.

By the way, it's PIT bull not PITT bull… not like it was named after Brad Pitt, it was named after the pit they fought in.

Also, try a search engine for the pictures. You're likely to get "I don't know" answers here but if you pull up google.com or blackle.com and type in "pit bull cane corso mix" I'm sure you'll get something.

There really is no way of knowing whether or not a male Cane Corso mated with the mommy……….but even if the pups are Pit Bull/Cane Corsos,who cares?You sound like you are afraid.Cane Corsos happen to be very loyal,intelligent,loving,playful,protect… dogs who would do anything for their owners.Don't be afraid of your new pups as they get older and bigger.the pups are young enough where you can really start socializing,loving,exercising,disciplini… laying down the law for them,so that they can become happy,healthy,well adjusted adults.If you don't start showing leadership right away,sure they could do some real damage to someone or something as adults.just be consistent with your training and remember that YOU are the alpha dog,and the new pups will learn to respect you.You must've known what you were gettin' into when you were gettin' Pit Bull pups,so what does it matter if a Cane Corso is thrown in the mix??just don't panic,and if you don't know how to be an alpha dog,watch the Dog Whisperer.he is AMAZING.he really taught me how to be an assertive pack leader,which came in handy with a Boxer I show.also,there's this website that was really informative on how to handle bigger,assertive dog breeds.It's http://www.jonsplace.org/rot/rotties.htm… this helps and good luck with your dogs!!

How do you train a dog to track and i know that not all dogs can be tracker dogs but i have a jack russel and he is just nine years old and i wanted to know can you train jack russel's to track and can you train him at nine years of age and how do you train them.

I'm not sure how to spell this, but German Shutzen Training is really good. It trains them in German. you should look it up, I'm sure it could show you how online

Start out with scent detection by placing a treat under one of 4 or 5 empty coffee cans turned up side down & placed in a row. Let the dog see you put it under a can & let him go find it. after he goes straight to it for a while, you hide the treat or toy under a coffee can when the dog cannot see where you put it. after he is pretty reliable start hiding in different parts of a room. then graduate into the whole house & then take it out side. once he is out side you can have someone hide from him, at first he sees the person hide & after a while have the person hide when the dog cannot see where he hid. Now that he has the idea as to what he is supposed to do you can lengthen the distance the person hides.

Always praise to high heaven every time he does right. Have the person that hides also praise & rough play after a find.

This is just the bare basics & is not meant to be a whole lesson.

House training a puppy can be done many different ways. all of them require a commitment.

What should be done to house train a new puppy is heavily discussed because house training is important. What is often overlooked is what you should not do when it comes to housetraining a new puppy.

Puppies are puppies and until they know or learn differently they may have accidents in the home, regardless of your vigilance and supervision. this is part of owning a dog. There are many methods to house train a puppy and as owners it is up to us to help prevent house soiling.

The internet is ripe with "how to" house training information. There are countless books that will in their estimation teach us how to house train a puppypy. when it comes to house training a new puppy there is very little information concerning what shouldn’t be done.

These are common mistakes made when house training a puppy?

1. Do not assume that your new puppy will always make his need to eliminate known. Give the puppy more opportunity than may actually be required.

2. Do not permit a puppy to have the use of your entire yard. Escort your puppy by leash to his designated potty area.

3. Do not wait to praise or treat the animal for his good work until you return to the home. it is vital this be done immediately during and after elimination.

4. Do not try to force your schedule on the new puppy. you must learn his schedule and adhere to it consistently.

5. Do not allow your puppy any opportunity to eliminate in your home. Stay vigilant and supervise the dog.

6. Do not ignore signs. Very often a puppy will begin circling and or sniffing around. the speed and success of house training depends largely on your supervision and willingness to take action.

7. Do not permit the puppy to eliminate in the home. you must anticipate it coming and learn to interrupt the process. get him on his leash and to his designated spot quickly. Do not punish a puppy if and when mistakes go uncaught. clean the area thorughly and continue the house training regiment. Mistakes will happen.

The above are simply a few of the things you should not do when house training a new puppy. the important thing to remember the process is not perfect. Failures will happen and it is our responsibility to hold these failures to a minimum.

The importance of consistent supervision cannot be over emphasized. in the home a puppy needs constant watching.

For those times that being there to supervise is just impossible. By using a dog cage or crate you can be satisfied your puppy is confined to an area small enought that he doesn’t want to eliminate.

Those times when it is impossible to be there cage training will become a key ingredient. Cage training will certainly speed the learning curve of the animal. Every new pup should be caged trained.

Cage or crate trained animals have all the advantages when they are in the house training stages. when you cage train a puppy the laws of nature are incorporated into the house training routine.

House training will be easier and include less failures for a cage trained puppy. it is natural for the dog and will give you far more control and peace of mind than the alternative.

Dog training aids and tools exist for reasons. they work, they keep dogs out of trouble, they keep owners from property loss and the loss of temper. Alright, I'll be getting a Cane Corso Mastiff puppy soon (yes, BIG dog with TONS of energy!) and I was wondering on how to keep him busy in his crate for the day. we have 2 cats, and he won't be fully trained obviously (I'll be getting him over the summer so by time I head back to school, he'll be 4-5 months, so he's still too young to be left inside alone but we'll have had a good 2 months of training and getting him adjusted, don't worry).

Anyways, I know dogs should be worn out before putting them in their crates, and I'm wondering what you do and how you keep them busy during the day? before I was thinking on going on a 15 minute walk, but now that seems like nothing for when he becomes 6 months! Do you think a nice, long walk to the local park and playing ball for awhile would do the trick? Maybe even some running? or what? I'm willing to go out for as long as needed in the morning for my dog.

And tips on keeping him entertained? It'll be about 7 hours while I'm gone for school. (yes, I know, long time for a pup! but he'll be housetained for the most part and he won't be too little as to he'll need to be let out every few hours so I think it will be okay if I come home and take him for a good walk.) I know stuffing a kong with treats is a good way, throwing in a bone another, but I need some other things that will guarenteed keep him busy as to not drive him stir-crazy!

It's not a good idea to put anything in his cage and leave him unattended. if he chokes there will be nobody there to help him.

7 hours is a long time. The best idea is either to send him to doggy daycare or have someone come in twice a day for a walk and bathroom break.

He'll need AT LEAST an hour walk in the Morning before going in the crate.

You should also consider having a neighbor or pet-sitter come in mid-day to let him out of the crate, walk him and play with him. I have nothing about him being in the crate while you're gone, but it will be a lot easier on him if someone can come in and break up his day a little bit, instead of leaving him in it for 7-8 hours during the day and again at night.

Housetrained? Maybe. but capable of holding his bladdar and bowels for 7 hours at a time? Nope. Not at 4 months. And the general rule is one should not leave any dog in any crate for longer than 4 hours. You WILL need to come home midday, or enlist someone to come over for you, and take this dog out.

He will need to be exercised both before and after crating, and 15 minutes won't cut it….especially for this breed. You have to know too that Cane Corsos (while absolutely gorgeous dogs) are not an easy breed to raise and maintain. They are powerful and dominant dogs, who do require extensive training and socialization….and by that, I mean PROFESSIONAL OBEDIENCE and tons of social activity. got the time for all that?

Please don't make your puppy live in a crate during the day. You'll be sorry, because his personality will be ruined by boredom, seperation anxiety, and hating being caged.

Let him be outside in a dog kennel with plenty of chew toys and bones, while you're gone during the day for hours. He'll have a mental health break, being in his own territory…..and hearing and seeing birds, or distant dogs etc.

And yes, a tired puppy is a good puppy. Play and running always needs to be at will for a growing puppy , so as not to ruin their joints, and straight line running/trotting is the best. Especially up and down hills. for short periods, like 15 minutes twice a day for a 6 month old puppy. Maybe you should get a bicycle with the springy attachments that your dogs lead can fasten to , that keeps them out away from your bikes wheels and spokes. Otherwise, I don't know if you can run enough to exercise him once he's big.

Ball fetching is good too, but careful about not too many abrupt turns while their bones are growing.

I've raised, or mentored being raised about 1000 Kimmelot German Shepherds.

1-2hrs of playing and walking in the morning should tire him out at that age and he'll sleep most of the day. To keep him entertained for longer stuff a kong and freeze it the night before (he cant choke and it'll take longer to eat). I also got my pup different types of kongs so there was variation. Plus she only gets her kongs when I'm not there so they are a special treat.

I agree with the others you probably will need someone to let him out to the toilet during the day because that's a long time for a pup to hold his bladder but as he gets older this won't be as bad. He should sleep for most of the day if you tire him out enough in the morning.

You could maybe think about an enclosure in the garden for him when you're away then he won't need let out to the toilet?

I don't know that it's such a good idea to get a dog if he has to be in his crate for 7 hours! The most a full grown dog can go without going to the bathroom is four hours. it is even shorter for puppies. my dog can hardly stay in his crate for one hour without getting stir crazy, much less seven! if you really want to get a pet I encourage something that needs less care such as a cat, hamster, bird or fish.

right now I am feeding my 5 month old 50 pound cane corso mastiff pedigree dog food as well as tuna or salmon, chicken and veggies a couple times a week. I was looking at other brands in the pet store (canada) and their ingredients and all that, what do you think is the best kind of bagged dog food for a cane corso?

When looking for a food you want to stay away from by-products, ground yellow corn, and any artificial flavors or colors. You want to get a premium food (basically a food that you HAVE to go to a pet specialty store to buy). When feeding a premium food, you may pay more per bag, but you will feed less and have less yard clean up (a big plus!) so in the long run it is actually cheaper.

Nutro makes excellent food. they have 3 lines: Max, Natural Choice, and Ultra. with all three lines you will get an all natural, human grade food with added vitamins and minerals; no ground yellow corn, which is a filler and a big allergen among pups; no by-products, which can include heads, feet and intestines; and no artificial flavors or colors. Nutro also has the highest levels of essential fatty acids (Omega 3 & 6) to help promote healthy skin and coat and also reduce shedding. Max is your basic premium food and from what I’ve seen the lowest priced premium food on the market. Natural Choice has taurine added and is made more for specific needs (i.e. sensitive skin, sensitive stomach, etc.). and Ultra is a holistic food with more fruits and vegetables, also known as super foods, which help with your pups immune system, joints, heart, vision, brain, etc.

I recommend getting him off Pedigree. It's quite low quality and does not offer proper nutrition for a growing giant breed. your puppy requires a careful balance of nutrients, particularly calcium and phosphorus, in order for his bones to develop properly.

My favorites from that list include Fromm Four-Star (which is available in many flavors, but might not be easily available in Canada) and Canidae all Life Stages.

Like someone else mentioned, Innova EVO and other grain-free kibbles are quite good. however, they're not suitable for your puppy, or any other large or giant breed puppy. The companies even state as much on their websites, and on their products. Grain-free foods tend to be too high in calcium and phosphorus for healthy joint development in large and giant breeds.

Pedigree is good for young pups but it is very high in calories, so I suggest in a few months to switch over to one in low calories since big breed dogs always eat a lot more such as Iams. =]

Best brand of dog food for cane corso mastiff?

I find Female's to be more protective than males. they get distracted less and are less dominant. A female dog generally will protect the family like that of being a mother protecting her children type thing.

Males are more aggressive towards other dogs

Males can be more territorial, but that pretty much goes for any breed, and quality of training and socialization, as well as good breeding, factors into that as well

they are both great protectors of home and family. believe it or not, in many of the molosser breeds, the females are the ones to watch, temperament wise. Males are often male-dog aggressive and food protective, but females are very territorial.
